Here's a chance to talk to a large community of avid social gamers. Ringorang is seeking a Social Media Intern. A dedicated, creative individual with strong writing ability, communication skills, and an eye for detail with the ability to comment on up & coming trends. You should be able to meet deadlines and work towards achieving set goals. You will need to possess strong writing skills and be able to captivate an online audience daily with the ability to also write for a "corporate level audience" (potential clients/partners) as well. Contribute as little as an hour per week and get noticed!

ROLE/DESCRIPTION
As a Ringorang intern you will participate in social media engagement and use our branding standards to drive our social media strategy. You will have the ability to entice, provoke, and otherwise engage our community on Twitter and Facebook. Be responsible for writing/editing posts, and responding to comments. This will also include monitoring blogs, social media, and other streams of information to learn about innovations in the market we are targeting and develop content for social media accounts. Through all this, always maintaining open communication with management.

QUALIFICATIONS
-Intellectual curiosity
-Must have strong knowledge of social medial applications and technologies such as Facebook and Twitter, blogging, RSS feeds, and other new media trends.
- Assist with the coordination, discovery, adaptation and incorporation of online interactive programs
-Must understand the use of blogs and have active accounts on at least a couple online social networks
-Responsible, dependable and well organized
-A passion for new media
-Strong writing skills, formally and creatively speaking with an attention to detail
-Be organized and able to meet deadlines
-Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
-Strong ability to self-manage schedule and projects to meet deadlines and goals

TIME REQUIREMENTS/BENEFITS
Take part in an innovative, transparent, and rapidly growing company while developing the highly marketable skills of social media management. You will be able to create and manage your own schedule and plan accordingly to meet weekly set goals.

We're starting off with a 3 month commitment, could be less, with no pay at first but the opportunity to become a paid staff member will be evaluated once the trial period is complete.

Long Live The Kingorang

Today, Saturday the 24th of April, marks the first anniversary of the passing of our dear friend, Pasha Phares. We first met Pasha through 12seconds, a micro-vlogging site, shortly after launching Ringorang. It didn't take long before Pasha became a devoted player and contributor of the game and someone we all knew and loved.

Pasha was kindhearted, funny, nerdy and incredibly smart, a wonderful husband and father, and passionate about Ringorang. He won so many times back in the day that he jokingly called himself "The Kingorang." The title was especially fitting because Pasha means "King" in Kurdish. Pasha was so good with trivia, he eventually went on to write Qs for us. In fact, most of the Star Wars questions in our game were written by Pasha, an ardent fan of the films.

It's so hard to believe its been a year since he's passed. It feels like just yesterday I was joking around with him on Twitter. I can't help but think of Pasha every time I see a video with a kitten or a puppy or while typing and accidently hitting 'return' when I meant to press the apostrophe key. (One of his biggest pet peeves was that the two keys are so close together.) I know I can speak for the whole crew here when I say that although we never got to meet Pasha in person, our interactions through 12seconds, Twitter and Facebook made us feel as if we had known him our whole lives.

For those of you who never had the pleasure of meeting Pasha, we'd like to share with you the tribute video we made last year. While assembling it, Pasha's friends and family in Seattle told us how much he loved singing with them the song from the commercial "I Love the World." I think you will agree it is the perfect soundtrack and makes for a very touching memorial. Gotta admit I still get choked up every time I watch it.

Pasha is survived by his wife, Debbie, and two daughters, Sierra and Maddie. Sierra now runs his blog and Twitter account. You can also visit Pasha's Facebook page.

When you have a chance, we ask that you please leave a message for our dear friend and his loved ones. The Kingorang may be gone, but his legacy will forever live on.

That used to be our motto. Then it became the mantra (and the name) of our flagship game. Now, we're coming full circle.

We don't have any daily themes this week. Or next. Or the week after. What we will have is a trivia tournament that begins on Monday at 8am PT and ends on Friday at 6pm PT, with questions that related to positively EVERYTHING. Are you game?

We'd add that the arrival of The Question Everything Challenge every week is pretty reliable, and much more fun. Alas, we weren't around for Ben Franklin when he was pondering such things.

Reminder: tournaments now last from Monday through Friday. This means your daily score carries over to the next day. Also, your taxes must be postmarked no later than April 15! Good luck.

Springtime. Renewal, rebirth, another excuse to eat ham – who doesn’t love this time of year?

We’ve been doing some behind-the-scenes tinkering, and this week we’re unveiling some changes to Question Everything.

Bad news first: we will be going without prizes starting this week. I know, major bummer. Prizing is a whole undertaking unto itself, so in order to focus on a variety of projects, we’ll be moving forward without it. We want to bring it back ASAP, and should you have suggestions for cool prizes, we’d love to hear it! Simply visit our feedback forum.

Better news: Question Everything will now be a week-long, 10 Q per day tournament. When we started this thing, it was a multi-week tournament, then a 24/7 week-long affair, and then daily. We're hoping this might be the gaming sweet spot of awesome.

Frankly, you might not even notice. You’ll still receive ten questions per day, Monday through Friday. The difference is your daily score will carry over to the next day, and we’ll declare a winner on Friday after the 5:00pm PT/8:00pm ET question. Now, if any one day stumps you, you’ll have four whole days to overcome it. Are you game?

Week 74 Themes - April 5 - 9:

Monday - Clash of the Mythos: While titans are clashing in theaters, we’re going to RELEASE THE KRAKEN OF TRIVIA!
Tuesday - The QE Redemption: You’ll be doing some hard time today with Qs about prisons. Be on your best behavior or you’ll end up in the hole.
Wednesday - Say "Cheese!": You know your town has made it when your coagulated milk curds become known throughout the world. See what you know about cheese and the regions that produce them.
Thursday - The Sweet Science: Boxing’s actually a sport, not a science, and involves no boxes whatsoever. It does take place inside a square, but it’s called a “ring.” These are but a few of the reasons why boxing intrigues us.
Friday - A Girl's Best Friend: The diamond is the birthstone of April. No truth to the rumor that April blatantly shows it off to the other months by propping her head on her hand or constantly tossing her hair.

In the spirit of spring cleaning, we've made some changes to Ringorang this past week.

First, the game device has a fancy new dallion meter! This led to an unfortunate bug in the update process. We'd like to apologize again for the inconvenience. To ensure you've got the latest version, please take a look at our updating guide.

Ringorang Desktop Update

We’d like to apologize for any and all frustrations our desktop app has caused you this week.

We pushed a desktop app update a few days ago. As many of you have experienced, there was a bug that caused the Adobe AIR updater to… well, not update. The desktop app proceeded to check again for said update, which caused another failed update, and round and round it goes.

The good news: the problem is with the updater, not our desktop app itself. The bad news: While we fix the wonky updater, the only way to bypass it is to manually uninstall the app, then reinstall it fresh from our website. (Of course, you can always play from the website – just leave it open in a spare browser tab.) Here’s how to get the new version:

Locate the folder called “RingorangDesktop.” You should find it in your Program Files (on Windows) or Applications folder (on Mac OSX). Banish it to your OS’ trash/recycle bin/landfill/skid row.
Go to http://qe.ringorang.com (sign-in if you're not already). Click “play with the desktop app” underneath the game device on the left. The device will slide away, revealing...

Again, huge apologies for all the hassle. If you're curious as to what the update is, we've replaced the text-based dallion countdown (which appeared above the Qs) with a dallion meter which, we think, gives a better visual indication of how many dallions are at stake at any given moment. As the meter shrinks, it will change color from green to yellow to red. The seconds timer in the top-right remains. Altogether, we think (and hope you'll agree) that this makes the experience a little more intuitive.

Enter our 'Yes-Nonsense Poem Contest' to win!

Tim Burton's film "Alice in Wonderland" is bedazzling audiences, so we saw it fitting to run not only a day of Alice trivia, but also an insanely great contest. Yes, further down the rabbit-hole we go…

In 1871, Lewis Carroll continued Alice's misadventures in the sequel "Through the Looking-Glass." Alice finds a nonsensical poem called "Jabberwocky" in which Carroll invented new words by blending old ones together—also known as a "portmanteau." (Hint, hint.)

So here's what we want you to do:
Write a nonsense poem about any Wonderland-related persons, places, or things. You can make up words or string them backwards and side-to-side. The more silly, the better. When you're finished, post your whimsical writings to our Facebook fan page and get your friends and family members to vote on them (ie. 'like' them). The person with the most votes at the beginning of Thursday's game at 8am PT (11am ET) wins a Ringorang T-shirt AND a $15 iTunes gift card! (We told you it was insanely great.)

How long does the poem have to be?
At least one stanza with 4 lines (that's a "quatrain" for you polymaths), but you can write more than that.

To help illustrate, we wrote a nonsense poem ourselves:

'Gan ringading and ringadong,
once poppened up to spring.
And if thou guessed a question wrong,
Rang did you so, not Ring!

We chose to rhyme with Ringorang lines, but you can write about anything, as long as it's related to Alice in Wonderland or our game. Easy, right? It literally took us 5 minutes to write that. Ok, ok, 6 minutes. But who's counting?

Now hurry along and don't be late. You may begin posting your poems to our Facebook wall at anytime. Hats off, good luck and a very merry unbirthday to you!

We've been down the Olympic rabbit hole and through the Oscar looking glass, so for Question Everything Week 70, we'd like to advise you, "Beware the jabberwock, my son!" He brings a wealth of trivia, he does.

Monday - A Day at the Races: The word race comes from an old Middle Dutch word for "ravage, rage." Which certainly puts a different spin on the modern phrase, "Second place is the first loser."
Tuesday - A Doll's House: We're celebrating Barbie's birthday the only way we know how. No, not cake.
Wednesday - Adventures in Wonderland: Tim Burton's latest film is simply the most recent example of the cultural impact of a little girl named Alice.
Thursday - Apples of My Eye: Today, we tip our caps to Johnny Appleseed by looking at the fruit of his labor. (Pun intended, thank you.)
Friday - Forward, MARCH!: Ancient Rome's military campaigns began in Martius, or Month of Mars, he being the god of war. From there, we're a John Philip Souza away from today's batch of Qs.

Monday - Valentine's Day: Today, Ringorang is for lovers. Unless you're a Prohibition-era gangster, in which case it's for bumping off your rivals.
Tuesday - Mardis Gras: And today, Ringorang is for Catholics cutting loose before a period of penitence and prayer. Or coeds cutting loose because they can. Or anyone looking for an excuse for debauchery. Whatever works for you.
Wednesday - Total Recall: We'll recall some of the more memorable product recalls in recent history. Jump in, Toyota, the water is warm!
Thursday - NBA: The second half of the basketball season is now underway, so we thought a refresher course was in order. The NBA -- where trivia happens.
Friday - Black History: February is Black History Month. We'll take a look at some notable faces, past and present.

A lot has changed in a year. We have new players participating in the game, and we've made some changes in our appearance, as well as the structure of our tournaments.

A year ago, we asked for you all to participate in a survey. Today, we're asking once again.

We're asking all of our players to take part in our new survey. It'll help us understand you as a player. With your answers, we can help craft a better game and experience for you.

The survey is 15 questions, but it only takes a few minutes. We're only asking about your experience with the game, as well as any of the contests we've run on Facebook and Twitter.

If you have any questions for us regarding this survey, or if you want to suggest something to us, please leave it here in the comments section.

With Valentine's Day and the Olympic Winter Games on the horizon (sneak preview!), we thought we'd use Week 66 of the All-Purpose Question Everything Challenge to count our rings before they hatch. We also have the birthday of a defining Republican and, just for kicks, a bunch of letters we threw together to look fancy. FTW!

Week 66 Themes:

Monday - Put a Ring On It: The unbroken line of a ring carries with it much symbolism. And several pop hits, too. What do you do, square?
Tuesday - IA (Initially Abbreviated): And you thought it stood for Internal Affairs.
Wednesday - The Radio Stars: Video didn't kill them, it just gave a face to the voice. Unfortunately, in some cases.
Thursday - "Lady" Be Good: There are ladies, and then there are Ladies. Here's 10 notable examples of the latter.
Friday - Honest Abe: 10 score and 1 year ago, Abraham Lincoln was born, I presume in a house made of Lincoln logs. To celebrate, we're offering one Q for every score since. (Trivia hint: a score is a group of 20. Also, he may have been born in a log cabin, but it most certainly was not made of Lincoln logs.)

Achievement contests are coming

Hey everyone,

We're bringing back the achievement contests! We had a fun time running them in the past and we wanted to conduct them once again for the new players that have joined the game.

If you don't remember how it went; we told you all of a specific task to do, and the first person to get it done won a prize! We did it a little bit differently in the past, so here are the new rules and how it's going to go.

First off, you'll need to be playing Ringorang. It will ONLY involve playing the game. Announcements will be made by way of other networks, but the tasks will solely involve the game.

Starting Monday, I will announce a specific task for you to do. It will be something straight-forward, such as obtaining a certain amount of dallions, or playing a certain amount of questions.

The first person to achieve the task and have proof of their achievement will win the prize designated.

To submit your achievement, you can do it one of two ways:

1. Post it to our Facebook page.
2. E-mail us (contact at ringorang.com)

We'll make the announcement of the winner on our Facebook page and Twitter, so be sure to be a fan and follower and find out right away for updates on the achievement contest!

Here's some other rules:

* -- In the event of a tie, all players involved will be put into a drawing, and the person chosen is the winner.

* -- All decisions are final by us.

* -- It might take a little while to verify submissions once they're sent in or posted. Don't worry, we're making sure everything is accurate.

* -- Only one person can win an achievement unless otherwise notified. Let's say the challenge is 300 dallions and someone wins. That leg of the contest is now over. You can still show us your rad 300 dallion scores after that, but just know that specific achievement task is done.

February was named for the Roman festival of purification, so what better way to kick off Week 65 of the All-Purpose Question Everything Challenge than with some good, clean trivia about being good and clean? Of course, you can't have light without darkness, so we go black for a day and also talk to a groundhog.

We do want to give a big thanks to the brains at mental_floss for letting us hook into their How Did You Know? 5-Day Trivia Hunt last week. Twas a lot of fun!

Week 65 Themes:

Monday - Purity: We're celebrating Februalia, Ringorang style! 10 Qs about getting and being pure. And awesome, although that's more implied.
Tuesday - Weather, or Not: It's Groundhog Day. Trivially-speaking, it's that rainy day.
Wednesday - Paint It "Black": A word association day to complement Monday's sheer whiteness. No, I don't mean that racially. Settle down.
Thursday - Getting Animated: The Annie Awards are February 6th, so we tip our caps to the world of ink and paint and pixels.
Friday - A Bowl That Is Super: The Big Game of American Gridiron Football That We Can't Name For Copyright Reasons is this Sunday. Are you ready for some trivia about said aforementioned NFL contest!?

Hey everyone,

On Wednesday, we'll continue our crossover game with mental_floss and "How Did You Know?" with a day of Awesome 80s trivia. If you're a fan like me of rad songs like this ...

... then tomorrow is your day to play!

We're also going to run a special contest on Facebook.

The winner will receive a Ringorang T-shirt, the book "mental_floss presents: Instant Knowledge," and a $25 Old Navy gift card.

Seriously, if you're not totally stoked right now, you better check your pulse, dude.

Here's how to play:

Become a fan of Ringorang on Facebook. (Only fans of our Facebook page are eligible to participate in this contest.) Also, tell your friends to become fans of Ringorang as well. This is key! I'll explain in a second.

Take a verse from your favorite 80s tune and alter the lyrics so that it's about Ringorang or Mental_Floss and their Trivia Hunt. Heck, if you want to reference HDYK?, Bonus City or even getting 450 dallions, go ahead!

Post it on our Facebook page beginning at 10 a.m. PT on Wednesday, and get as many friends as possible to "Like" your lyrics.

The person with the most "likes" to their lyrics will win our contest! Don't forget, your friends have to be a fan of our Facebook page to "like" your lyrics.

For Week 64 of the All-Purpose Question Everything Challenge, we're teaming up with the knowledge junkies at Mental Floss magazine to posit one question: How Did You Know?

Well, actually, we'll still be asking 50 brain-defying questions, but our themes will run in conjunction with Mental Floss' How Did You Know? 5-day trivia hunt, which challenges all you brainiacs to solve a series of puzzles hidden across the web.

Monday - Instant Knowledge: We've pulled some tidbits from Mental Floss' Instant Knowledge, a pocket-sized guide containing a wide range of fun facts and instructions on how to use them.
Tuesday - "Bird" is the Word: These ten questions relate to various birds, some with feathers, some not.
Wednesday - Awesome 80s: An ode to the totally tubular and righteously radical period from 1980 to 1989.
Thursday - Law & Order - Special Trivia Unit: No, not the long-running police procedural franchise. After these ten law and law enforcement factoids, you'll be able to say, "I fought the law!" Whether or not you win that fight is up to you.
Friday - X-actly: 'X' marks the spot for this ten Qs.

For Week 62, we're moving the All-Purpose Question Everything Challenge from its 11:35pm timeslot to an 8:00am - 6:00pm PST slot in order to accommodate Jay Leno.

...oh wait, that was somebody else. Anyhoo...

Monday - MLK: We're observing Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday with 10 Qs about the man and the world he so greatly affected.
Tuesday - The Tonight Show: NBC's long-tenured programming bookend to Today has quite a legacy. As for its future, well...
Wednesday - Game On: Who needs late night comedy when you've got Farmville on Facebook? 10 Qs about "video" games new and old.
Thursday - Berry Barry Good: As evidenced by these ten people, if one were to form a company with employees all named Berry or Barry, you'd have a pretty successful company. Roll that around your brain for a while.
Friday - The Sopranos: Once upon a time, HBO was worried that people would think their new drama was about singers. 9 years and 6 seasons later, some have called David Chase's drama the best TV show of the 2000s.

The All-Purpose Question Everything Challenge is so meta this week, from 8am to 6pm PST, Monday through Friday.

Tuesday - That's So Metamorphosis: Things change. Into animals. It happens.
Wednesday - Not-So-Mad Scientists: You know how I know the sun makes the world go round? Because of these ten nerds. And Wikipedia. But mostly nerds.
Thursday - What's In a Name?: A rose by any other name might smell just as sweet, but if it moved to Hollywood, it'd get plastic surgery and change its name to "Cruise" or "Caine" or "Enterprise." Like I said, things change.
Friday - Gleeful Song Lyrics: In 2009, one Fox TV show reintroduced millions of Americans to pop hits young and old on a weekly basis, in the process becoming the most tweeted about show of the year. No, silly, not that long-in-the-tooth talent competition... GLEE! We'll present lyrical excerpts from ten songs on the Glee soundtrack and see if you can name that song.

Happy New Year! Ready for the apocalypse? Or your new diet? The All-Purpose Question Everything Challenge is! Our trivia themes for next week, running every day form 8am to 6pm PST.

Monday - Apocalypse Later: Nothing says "new year" quite like the threat of total world annihilation. So, we'll kick off the week with a cinematic quiz of apocalyptic proportions.
Tuesday - The Beginning of the End: This quiz is devoted to first impressions, last words, and all those places where something starts and something else finishes.
