Ringorang Themes: November 2 - 7

We've got some changes in store when Ringorang fires up this Monday, November 2nd. As we noted previously, Question Everything will be switching to a 10-question daily format. Hopefully, that'll really open things up for everyone playing... you're all only 10 Qs away from victory!

We'll also have two new features on the site: 1) Facebook Connect -- To make getting into the Ring even simpler, you and your friends will now have the option to sign up and login with your Facebook account. 2) Invite A Friend -- Speaking of friends, you'll be able to invite them to play right from the site. Pop in their email and we'll have our e-gnomes deliver a missive on your behalf.

This week's Question Everything themes:

  • Monday - Famous Felines: We'll start off the week with a theme that's the cat's meow. Specifically, fictional cats with ink and paint meows.
  • Tuesday - Sesame Street: You know what sweeps the clouds away and takes you to where the air is sweet? The iTunes gift card you'll win for nailing today's 10 Sesame Street Qs.
  • Wednesday - B-Ball: NBA action is back, and we're taking you to the hole and throwing down 10 hardcourt Qs.
  • Thursday - Author! Author!: Books may be going audible or electronic, but there's still a neurotic writer behind a keyboard somewhere churning them out. Here's 10 famous wordsmiths.
  • Friday - Just Desserts: What better way to finish the week than with a dessert course? Indulge your sweet tooth with these candy-coated Qs.

DCN's Rocking Tailgate Tour 2009 winds its way into Lincoln, NE for the Sooners-Cornhuskers showdown on November 7. Visit DCNLive.com if you want to join the fun. As always, we'll have college football Qs to count you down to gameday.

Changes are coming to Question Everything

We have a few changes coming to Ringorang and the Question Everything tournament. Here's a couple that are huge.

Starting Monday, each daily tournament will be 10 questions. The tournament will still begin at 8 a.m. PT, but it will now end at 5:59 p.m. PT.

The scoring system won't change, and the difficulty will be all over the board like before. We're just closing up the tournament shop earlier each day. The competition should get much more exciting!

Also, I just received word that everyone using the application to play the game will need to restart it Monday morning, because an update is coming that is very vital.

For most people, a restart is all that will be needed. However, if that does not work, then you will need to re-install the application. We'll keep you updated with anything else coming, and we'll inform you a few times in the days ahead that the changes are coming.

Any questions, let us know here or in the feedback forum.

Slight changes coming Nov. 2

I was told by the production team that some changes are coming to the game on Nov. 2. Because of this, your application will be updating itself at that time.

All I can say about the update is ... you'll be able to spread the word about Ringorang much easier, and you can brag to your friends about your success.

That's it. I'm being told not to say anything else. So you'll have to wait a couple weeks to find out what it is. If you want to guess, go ahead and leave a comment below.

The numbered keys work now!

Finally, the numbered keys have returned! We were just a day ahead of ourselves, but as many say, "Good things come to those that wait."

Just to recap, you can now answer questions in both games using the keyboard. Only the 1, 2, 3 and 4 keys are applied here. The possible answers are in order of the keys (1 for the first possible answer, 2 for the second, etc.).

There is one thing to note for those of you playing through the Internet browser.

You'll get asked to play like normal. However, if you click on anything after that, the numbered keys won't work. If you do click on anything, click back on the game and the keys will be usable.

At least for me, when I use FireFox, when I click on the game, dots surround it, letting me know that the last click I did was on the game. Thus, I'd be able to use the keys. I don't know whether that's the case for your Internet browsers.

If you have any questions, let us know here or on the feedback forum.

Ringorang Themes: October 5th - 10th

Question Everything themes, running from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Pacific.

  • Monday - October: Remembrances, revolutions, reaping, beer... We're covering all of October with one bountiful harvest of trivia.
  • Tuesday - Famous Addresses: Today's Q's will literally hit home.
  • Wednesday - October Baseball: Almost all of Major League Baseball's most memorable moments happened this month. We're kicking off the playoffs with an ode to some fall classics.
  • Thursday - $ymbo!ism 101: We unpack the meaning and origins of some famous symbols. Including one whose existence will shake the very foundations of Christianity. No wait, that was a movie.
  • Friday - Size Does Matter: By the time you're done answering these Q's, you'll have an inferiority complex so big you'll be buying a Humvee.

And of course, DCN's Tailgate Tour is still rockin' its way through the South. Daily tournaments run Monday through Saturday from 9:00am to 9:00pm Eastern. Check out DCNLive.com for tailgate details.

Two slight changes to how you can play

Good news!

Beginning with Monday's tournaments, you'll be able to use the keyboard to answer questions. We had this feature before, but we took it out for a couple weeks as we re-did the Ringorang site and its upgrades.

If you've never experienced this before, here's how it works.

Only the 1, 2, 3, and 4 keys on your computer will work. They're synced in order from the first response (1) to the fourth (4). If you want to pass the question, you'll still need to click on the "PASS" button.

You can't change your answer once you press a button. So if you choose 4, then press 1, the game will recognize you choosing 4 as your option. Keep this in mind as you use your keyboard.

Also, if you're playing through the Internet browser that has tabs, the Ringorang page will flash when it's time to play the game. So even if you don't hear the ring, you may get to see the flashing tab and still answer the question in time.

That's all for now. Thanks to everyone that's been playing so far. We have a lot more goodies coming. If you have any questions, be sure to leave them here or on the feedback forum.
