Hesitation on the mouse

Posted by GC2 on 3/11/2009 04:14:00 PM
Tygr20 brought this up during the live chat (and we'll be doing another one tomorrow), and I thought it was interesting.

Are there questions out there where you hesitate because it seems too easy?

It happened to me earlier today, during the Jackson 5 question (the answer was Michael). I thought "Michael" right away, but then I said to myself that it couldn't be that because it's too obvious. So I lost dallions because I second-guessed myself. I probably would have gotten 285-290 dallions had I just went with it.

Let me know if this has happened to you, especially during this week's challenge.

i do hesitate, but only when i am on the question where i will get the bonus.

So if i am not at 2 in a row, i generally just answer asap no matter what...

as you can see... this strategy hasn't been paying off!!!

Happens to me ALL the time. It's even worse after missing a recent question has made me gun-shy.

I hesitated on the Scareface Remake question, cause I was like how could they have remade a movie about some drug dealer coming up in the eighties in Florida. I didn't think that it was possible that the movie was made in the 20's ;cause I'm thinking how would they know all about the eighties. I realized I was an !diot and I wasn' thinking remake and instead revisiting. Anyway I got it wrong after hesitating. I also missed a Capote question but I knew the answer to that I just hesitated and started to over-think it!

Always do, regardless of whether I know the answer. I have very low self-confidence when it comes to these sorts of things :P

Yeah, I stupidly hesitated on that same exact question - and it was my bonus city question! So I ended up getting 0 dallions because I didn't want to be wrong when I should have just guessed since it was a bonus city question. So I've learned and will just guess whenever a bonus is involved.

That happens to me but not very often. Usually I know the answer or know that I don't know. Sometimes I'll eliminate what I know is wrong to make an educated guess. I don't consider it a problem, just part of the game.

Yeah, I do hesitate on some Qs. If it's not a matter of direct knowledge but just an educated guess, I tend to double-check for a trick of some sort. Particularly for something that seems too good to be true. (Also I tend to skim questions, so on ones like that I have to make sure I didn't misread.)

Often. Especially if I'm in a race for position.

Plus, I have this incredible knack to often know I've chosen the wrong answer when I get one wrong and know immediately what the right answer was before time runs out.

Frankly, I also often see only two of the answers rather than all four. It's a speed thing in an effort to get the most dallions I can on Q. If it's an obvious one or one I kind of know the answer too, I'll frequently let it run down to between 100 and 150 dallions to take the least amount of damage if I get it wrong. Or just outright let time run out if I don't know the answer or can't guess.

Trying hard not to notice the typos in my last comment. :-|

I have to add a second reply to this one. Sometimes I'm laughing so hard at the #4 answer that I can't click an answer in time so I guess we'll call that Unintentional Hesitation. Hahaha

I do hesitate on every question. I hesitate even when I know I am right! madmad59
